Parallels between photography and Haute Couture were drawn by designer Tamara Ralph at the Ralph & Russo show this week in Paris. More specifically, iconic fashion photographers like Richard Avedon and Cecil Beaton were cited as the inspiration for the Autumn/Winter 2017/2018 collection. Arguing that Couture, like photography, captures an individual’s unique personality, Ralph presented her own interpretation of a female portrait.

“Pale iridescence” would best describe the colors and textures reflected throughout the wow-worthy parade of 57 looks. The soft tones and shimmering nuances were elevated to the haute-est of heights through the generous use of frosty crystals, pearlescent silks and metallic lace. Add to that the heapings of hand embroidery and feathers galore, and the resulting line-up is ice princess perfect.
