Louis Vuitton’s latest collaboration is with New York-based artist Jeff Koons. The collection, titled Masters, consists of handbags and accessories designed with iconic works by Leonardo da Vinci, Titian, Peter Paul Rubens, Jean-Honoré Fragonard and Vincent Van Gogh.

The capsule is inspired by Koons’ “Gazing Ball” series, where he reconstructs iconic pieces of art paired with a metallic gazing ball in the front, giving the a viewer a new perspective on the artwork. “You’re able to have a larger life with with more breadth to it,” Koons explained in a video.

A collaboration between Louis Vuitton and artist Jeff Koons, the ‘Masters’ Collection remixes the iconic artworks of the Old Masters and presents them in a way that encourages new interpretations.

The Story – Koons has brought imagery from his long-standing “Gazing Ball” pairings – a series of large-scale hand-painted reproductions of works by the Old Masters – to a range of Louis Vuitton products.

His re-creations of masterpieces by da Vinci, Titian, Rubens, Fragonard and Van Gogh have been transposed on to such iconic Louis Vuitton bags as the Speedy, the Keepall and the Neverfull.
