“Balancing Act” From its origins in ancient Polynesian tradition to its current day status as a global sports phenomenon, surf culture has captured imaginations for centuries. For Kenzo Fall Winter 2017 collection, Joyce NG tapped into the tribal imaginary of surf culture, capturing Hong Kong locals in a series of shots reminiscent of the family photo album of the future. The mix of Kenzo’s bright hues and earthy surroundings, the regal and the DIY, the masculine and feminine all evoke new visions of the most fundamental principle of surf: balance.
