Gucci will be launching collaboration with Unskilled Worker, British artist a.k.a Helen Downie. Discovering her through Instagram and inviting her to participate at Gucci’s No Longer / Not Yet show in October 2015 in Shanghai’s Minsheng Art Museum, Creative director Alessandro Michele and Unskilled Worker have since created a stronger bond, which is now to be expressed in this collaboration between Gucci and the talented artist.

In order to understand the current relationship between Gucci and the modern artists of today, one must venture in time to when Alessandro Michele was a youth. The Creative Director of Gucci once said that his obsession with fashion comes from his mother and his obsession with art comes from his father.

Michele is rather fortunate to be able to combine both of his passions through collaboration collections, for instance collections with artists Trouble Andrew and Coco Capitán for Gucci, but he is also able to spotlight their talents through one of the biggest fashion houses in the world. British artist Unskilled Worker is the latest artist to enter the spotlight, and is launching a capsule collection with the Italian fashion house on October 11.

Talking with Unskilled Worker

“Orvieto has been a very important part of my painting. It was a catalyst. It’s a very beautiful, outrageous place,” Helen Downie. Exploring the world of artist Unskilled Worker in a video directed by Hill & Aubrey, including the Umbrian city where she paints in a studio over summer.
