The Céline Fall 2017 collection features a sleek and minimal signature styled that remained unchanged, but overall the silhouettes are more empowering than ever before.

With no-nonsense black pantsuits with boxy jackets, buttoned-up collars and stirrup pants, worn with solid Western boots; longer, there are more waisted versions of the favorite Céline tuxedo coat; striped shirts; and many variations on raincoats.

Gone are the neat lady-bags of last season; in their place, capacious black nylon totes, slung on shoulders. It had a pragmatic air. There are dresses, for sure—slightly experimental bubble dresses; slim long shapes with fringing on integral scarves or on hems.

The collection has the air of a go-to-work uniform; a wardrobe in which to be prepared to tough out the situation. The alleviating quirk of the season were the giant, fuzzy stoles slung over the arms.
