#DGSICILYISMYLOVE a new unique Made in Italy project created D&G together with Smeg to produce masterpiece kitchen appliances #DGSMEG
At the Milan Design Fair, Salone del Mobile di Milano, Smeg and Dolce&Gabbana unveiled their latest collaboration – Sicily is my Love. This colourful collaboration is an adjunct to the bespoke FAB by Smeg fridges hand-painted by Sicilian artists, revealed last year.
Like the FABs, the small appliances are also adorned with Dolce&Gabbana’s signature decorative style. Smeg is the only brand to foster this ingenious fusion of ‘Made in Italy’ style, art and fashion and bring couture level design to the home.
The toasters, kettles, blenders, stand mixers and coffee machines are richly decorated with the fruits and symbols of Sicily – golden lemons, prickly pears and bright red cherries – framed in triangular ‘crocchi’ motifs. Other patterns include florals inspired by the coast and landscape of Southern Italy; images of Mt. Etna: the ruins of the Greek temple of Castor and Pollux in the Valley of Temples; and the famous trinacria (as seen on the Sicilian flag).
As well as epitomising the symbols and traditional artwork of Sicily, the Sicily is my Love collection also celebrates the home of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana while highlighting two of Smeg’s passions – good food and original, innovative design.
